How to Cross Reference

You can choose to search through the library database with a single subject as a criteria by simply clicking and choosing an item on the list.

You can also choose to cross reference subjects as a search criteria. This is done by selecting more than one item in the list ofg subjects.

Cross Referencing is like saying "I want to find a book on Women AND Space/Architecture"

In this case, a search will return all books in the Women's Center Library whose subjects are both Women and Supace/Architecture.

If you are on a PC (IBM, DELL, Compaq, etc.), you cross reference by clicking on the desired subjects while holding down the Control Key (located to the left of the spacebar).

If you are on a Macintosh Computer (Apple, iMac, etc.), you cross reference by clicking on the desired subjects while holding down the Command Key (first key to the left of the spacebar).

You have successfully selected multiple subjects for cross referencing when you see more than one item in the subject list highlighted.

If you have anymore questions on using this feature, please email the Women's Center or call us at (858) 822-0074.
