Internet-Blocking Software Note: Some of these programs, particularly Cybersitter, block out sites offering information on women's issues (such as the home page for NOW), safer sex, and support groups for homosexual teens. See Peacefire. Use your best judgement on the age of your children and what information they can handle. Also note that no blocking software can keep up will all the new sites on the web, and there is always a chance that your children may be able to get through to a site that you are not comfortable with. Kid-safe seach engines, such as Yahooligans , are great (as long as you are there to supervise). The best and most education blocking software is always the parent. Given these caveats, here are the most common blocking programs:
