Academic Resources for Students

Academic Advising
Provides information about academic advisors in your undergraduate college and advice on choosing a major/minor, planning what classes to take, and helping to find opportunities that will enrich your university experience.

Academic Enrichment Program (AEP)
Programs designed to broaden your educational experience and encourage your pursuit of an advanced degree.

Career Center
Provide students with the quality training and tools necessary to find meaningful life work.

Critical Gender Studies Department
An undergraduate program specializing in the study of gender and sexuality.

Office of Academic Support and Instructional Services (OASIS)
A learning center at UC San Diego that provides most of the free tutoring on campus in a collaborative, supportive environment.

Student Promoted Access Center for Education and Service (SPACES)
A fully funded, student run space that is focused on access and retention work through the University of California San Diego.

Study Abroad Office
Provides programs and locations, making sure credits you take abroad will fit into your UC San Diego academic requirements, assists with exploring financial aid and scholarship opportunities, and preparing for the challenges of adapting to living overseas

Teaching & Learning Commons
Works with units throughout UC San Diego to engage with students in their academic and co-curricular pursuits to support them in achieving their undergraduate, graduate, and career goals.

Asian Pacific Islander Middle Eastern Desi American (APIMEDA) Programs & Services
An office at UCSD intended to build community, enhance leadership skills, and provide retention support.

Black Resource Center
The Black Resource Center is a Campus Community Center that serves everyone at UC San Diego while emphasizing the Black experience. We promote scholarship, foster leadership, and cultivate community for students through the committed, collaborative effort and support of faculty, staff, and the broader UC San Diego community.

Cross Cultural Center
Empowering students to engage in all frameworks of social justice

Intertribal Resource Center
Supports Native American students and promotes educational access in our tribal communities.

LGBT Resource Center
The Lesbian Gay Bisexual Transgender Resource Center at UC San Diego provides a visible presence on campus and enhances a sense of connection and community among LGBT faculty, staff, students, alumni and the UC San Diego Community.

Raza Resource Centro
As a Campus Community Center with administrative staff and student interns, we offer activities, events and resources to connect, students, staff, faculty, and alumni.

Women’s Center
The Women’s Center serves as a resource for the entire campus community while placing the experiences of diverse women at the center through the resources we provide, the programming and learning opportunities we facilitate, and the dynamic community space that we create. We are a unit of Equity, Diversity and Inclusion.

Chancellor's Advisory Committee on the Status of Women

Chancellor's Advisory Committee on the Status of Women (CSW)
CSW plays a valuable role on campus by advising the Chancellor through the Vice Chancellor of Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion (VCEDI) on issues relating to the status of women and gender equity at UC San Diego.

Systemwide Advisory Committee on the Status of Women
Examines issues regarding the status of UC women staff, students, and faculty

Childcare and Caregiver Resources

Bright Horizons Care Advantage
A UC sponsored benefit to help eligible employees access care for all members of their family (child, senior and pet) and save money on test prep, tutoring and preferred child care centers.

California Childcare Resource and Referral Network
Gives parents’ referrals and information about the elements of quality care and state licensing requirements, as well as the availability of child-care subsidies.

FSAP Caregivers and Eldercare Resources
Resources choices and plans.

Local San Diego Childcare Referrals
In addition to referrals, assists with how to identify high-quality child care for infants and toddlers, as well as follow-up assessments to help parents evaluate their satisfaction with a child care arrangement.

UCSD Early Childhood Education Center (ECEC)
Offers weekday care for children 3 months to 6 years old, with 5 age-appropriate developmental programs. (There may be waiting lists for all age groups.) The center offers full-time enrollment only. Parents who meet income guidelines may be eligible for subsidized care, and an after-hours program is available.

UC San Diego Babysitting Service
The UC San Diego Babysitting Resource allows UCSD Students, Staff and Faculty Parents to connect with UCSD Students who are interested in providing a babysitting service.

Community

A resource and information hub that connects people with community, health and disaster services.

American Council on Education Women’s Network (ACE)
The ACE Women’s Network facilitates the networking of women interested in pursuing leadership opportunities in higher education.

American Association of University Women San Diego Branch
The American Association of University Women (AAUW) San Diego Branch encourages personal and professional growth in women of all ages. We support scholarship programs and provide community leadership opportunities - all in the context of developing lifelong friendships with like-minded women.

Center for Community Solutions
The mission of the Center for Community Solutions to end relationship and sexual violence by being a catalyst for caring communities and social justice.

Commission on the Status of Women San Diego
The Commission is mandated to study and advise the San Diego County Board of Supervisors on areas of concern to women’s lives and needs in San Diego County.

Community Resource Center
Established in 1979, CRC has grown from providing basic needs for families in crisis, to offering extensive programs that facilitate the safety, stability, and self-sufficiency of low-income and episodically homeless households – including domestic violence (DV) victims.

Equality California
Equality California brings the voices of LGBTQ people and allies to institutions of power in California and across the United States, striving to create a world that is healthy, just, and fully equal for all LGBTQ people.

National Asian Pacific American Women’s Forum, San Diego Chapter
NAPAWF-San Diego’s mission is to build community, engage in political activism and empowerment, develop new leaders, and sustain our chapter and the AAPI movement in San Diego for AAPI womyn, girls, transgender, gender non-conforming individuals and allies.

National Organization for Women San Diego Chapter
San Diego NOW’s purpose is to take action through intersectional grassroots activism to promote feminist ideals, lead societal change, eliminate discrimination, and achieve and protect equal rights of all women and girls.

PFLAG San Diego County

San Diego Stalking Strike Force
Provides information, resources, and tips about stalking and cyberstalking.

San Diego Women’s Groups
A listing of women’s groups in San Diego— focused on networking, particular industries, occupations, professions and hobbies.

San Diego Family Justice Center
Provides resources to victims of family violence and their children.

Shakti Rising
A social change organization transforming the lives of women, girls, and the larger community. They cultivate the health and emerging leadership of women and girls, ultimately empowering them to use their personal transformation as a catalyst for positive change in their families and communities.

San Diego Women in Biotech
The goal of the San Diego Women in Biotech group to build a stronger and more collaborative community among women from academia, industry, and startups. Their events bring together women in biotech for career development, networking, and training, and host panel discussions covering a range of scientific and engineering disciplines, with a focus on female leadership and representation.

Society of Women Engineers San Diego County (SWE)
The Society of Women Engineers is a not-for-profit educational and service organization that empowers women to succeed and advance in the field of engineering, and to be recognized for their life-changing contributions as engineers and leaders.

Women’s Museum of California
Their mission is to educate and inspire current and future generations about the experiences and contributions of women by collecting, preserving, and interpreting the evidence of that experience.

YWCA San Diego County
YWCA of San Diego County empowers women, men, and children to break the cycle of domestic violence and homelessness, and achieve self-sufficiency. Their comprehensive residential programs and community services allow individuals and families to secure immediate safety, recover from trauma, improve their economic status, obtain permanent housing, and ultimately transform their lives.

Academic Family Accommodation Policies
UC San Diego academic personnel policies pertaining to family accommodations for academic appointees.

CARE at the Sexual Assault Resource Center
The UC San Diego confidential* advocacy and education office for sexual violence and gender-based violence (dating violence, domestic violence, stalking).

Center for Faculty Diversity and Inclusion
Provides information on faculty recruitment, development, and advancement.

Faculty Staff Assistance Program
The Faculty and Staff Assistance Program is a confidential service designed to help all campus employees and the members of their immediate household resolve concerns that may be affecting personal well-being and/ or job performance.

HR Work/Life Health and Wellness
Find out about programs that promote health and wellness for faculty and staff at UCSD.

Office for the Prevention of Harassment and Discrimination (OPHD)
Educates the UC San Diego community about issues of bias, harassment and discrimination and to assist with the prevention and resolution of these issues in a fair and responsible manner.

Ombud’s Office
A channel for confidential, neutral, and informal dispute resolution services for the UC San Diego Community.

Their purpose is to learn about feminist theory through the writings and literature of feminist scholars. The Feminist Book Club will serve to open up a dialogue about intersectional feminism, covering a wide range of topics, including, but not limited to: race, gender, sexuality, class, ability, and ethnicity. Queer and Trans* People of Color (QTPOC) at UCSD
Queer and Trans* People of Color (QT*POC) at UCSD was established in 2000 by a group of Queer students of Color FED UP with racism in the queer community, and with homophobia and transphobia within cultural organizations. With this, at the core of QT*POC are their commitments to struggle and activism. They recognize the intersections of multiple, beautiful, and sometimes confusing identities, as well as the related intersections of social justice movements. They create a SPACE--a social, political, academic, and cultural environment--to enhance our members' entire self-being and holistic wellness.

She’s the First
She's the First is a non-profit undergraduate student organization that works to give scholarships to young women in low-income countries in order to attend secondary school. She's the First helps raise awareness about the socio-economic conditions of the women of low-income countries to help create first generation graduates
